A synchronous motor is a motor that incorporates a permanent magnet in the rotor.
A synchronous motor differs from induction motors in that there is no flow of secondary current, because the magnetic flux is generated from the permanent magnet, thus resulting in a higher level of efficiency with significant loss reduction.
Furthermore, a synchronous motor (type with built-in permanent magnet) and FRENIC-MEGA (GX Series) inverter can be combined to create a "next-generation drive system" to replace the widely adopted conventional combination of an induction motor and inverter.
